Project
Ensuring peaceful and inclusive societies globally through a two-year framework contract

Project
It is estimated that without action more than 80% of the world’s poorest will be living in fragile contexts by 2030. With the outbreak of COVID-19, concerns have been raised specifically regarding the vulnerability of crises-affected populations, as well as risks to social order and political exploitation of such crises. Efforts to ensure peace and human security around the globe have never been more critical.
The Policy Framework for Swedish Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid identifies ”peaceful and inclusive societies” as one of eight prioritised thematic areas for Swedish development aid. The framework establishes that a conflict perspective shall be integrated in all Swedish development cooperation. For Sida and its implementing partners, this instruction implies that all contributions must be conflict-sensitive and that opportunities to integrate conflict prevention, peace and human security must be identified.
To that end, a consortium comprised of NIRAS, Ecorys and PRIO has been contracted to conduct assignments under Sida’s Framework Agreement on Peace and Human Security. The agreement will run from 2020–2022, and it will include both medium and longer-term assignments.
