Tailoring a comprehensive solution for complex needs

FDT, now part of NIRAS conducted a thorough review of the existing CIP system and user requirements, including fixed vessels, freeze dryers, and mobile vessels. Multiple design options were presented to the client, each focusing on flexibility, efficiency, and reduced operational costs. A masterplan was then developed, integrating innovative TOC measurement for cost-effective monitoring.

Key Activities

  1. Review of Design Brief and User Requirements Specification (URS).
  2. Analysis of CIP user needs, frequency, and interactions.
  3. Presentation of design options at client workshops.
  4. Development of the Basis of Design document, including:
    • Outline Functional Specification
    • Process Descriptions
    • Preliminary P&IDs and layouts
    • Control system architecture
    • Mechanical and electrical scope of work
    • Clean utilities usage and loading.
  5. Constructability Review and Design Risk Assessment.
  6. Cost Review (CAPEX and OPEX).
  7. Close-Out Workshop with client.

Providing a robust foundation for future growth

The collaborative effort between NIRAS, the client, and an external automation partner resulted in a concept design that fulfilled all requirements and provided a scalable blueprint for future plant expansion. This project not only improved safety and compliance but also resolved PLC obsolescence, ensuring a sustainable and efficient CIP system for years to come.
