NIRAS supports PoLoPo with first pilot-scale facility

News
We’re pleased to be supporting PoLoPo with the design of their first pilot-scale facility to process bioengineered potatoes into functional protein powders.
Based in Israel, PoLoPo's SuperAA platform enables potato plants to produce high-value proteins like patatin and ovalbumin - turning them into efficient, scalable biofactories. Our role has been to help turn that innovation into a practical facility design, using established food processing technologies.
The setup includes equipment for cleaning, crushing, protein extraction, purification and spray-drying, all configured with scalability and cost-efficiency in mind. We’ve worked closely with PoLoPo to keep capital costs below $1 million - an important step in making alternative proteins more commercially viable.
