NIRAS has again managed to strengthen its position within the green energy transition, GREENsition, by hiring specialist in green fuels Michael Maimann.
He arrives at NIRAS from a position as project director in the Danish biotechnology company Novozymes.
Prior to that, he has worked developing biofuels in Mærsk McKinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, and in Ørsted.

“By employing Michael Maimann, we have again shown that we can attract very strong capacities that will make a significant contribution to NIRAS’ work within GREENsition. Michael has a lot of experience in the field of biotechnology and usage of biomass in some of the largest companies in Denmark, and we are confident that his knowledge will benefit our clients,” says Thomas B. Olsen, Senior Vice President in NIRAS.
Michael Maimann himself does also see an interesting potential in his new position:
”The interest in using biomass within the green transition has accelerated a lot in recent years. If used correctly, it has a huge green potential. With GREENsition, NIRAS has embarked on an exciting and ambitious journey, and I am convinced that I will get many opportunities to transform my passion for biomass and biofuels into sustainable solutions that will make a difference for both our clients and for society at large,” he says.
At the crossroads for green energy
According to Michael Maimann, NIRAS holds a very advantageous position when it comes to developing new sustainable solutions within green energy.
“NIRAS works with many stakeholders that contribute to the green energy transition within the food industry, the energy sector, and the supply companies, as well as the pharma and life science sectors. We find ourselves in the middle of some extremely interesting crossroads where we can draw on new knowledge and development within all these areas. At the same time, NIRAS has a very good reputation for having a flat structure and for working across different areas of competences and business units. Thereby, we can draw on all the capacities of the organization to promote the green transition. This also makes it extra motivating to become a part of the team,” he explains.
