International Conference on Scour and Erosion 2023

News
NIRAS Offshore Wind expert and chair of the ICSE-11 conference, Thor Ugelvig Petersen, was thrilled to share his professional view on the sector and the growing demand for innovative and sustainable and profitable solutions to support our people, our planet, biodiversity, and agriculture.
“This year, we celebrate 30 years of offshore wind, and in the next 5-10 years, there will be a significant focus on renewable energy and on harnessing more clean energy. This is both about meeting climate targets, but also about the future of the next generation,” says Thor.
We are proud to have organised the conference together with prominent sponsors, who were keen to share their expert insights as well. Henrik Frederiksen from Rohde Nielsen shared his knowledge about vessel-based solutions to counter the challenges of scour and erosion; Robert Lengkeek and Caitlin Holzhauser from Van Oord highlighted how scour protection design process works resulting in design optimisation with an environmental perspective, and Ridgeway showcased their alternative solutions to scour protection and how to enhance the offerings of aquaculture biodiversity.
The conference was definitely the ideal platform and playground to pave the way for joint collaboration and for fostering science-based innovative solutions that are key to ensuring action and to meeting the ambitious industry targets towards a more renewable energy subsea market. It’s time for a rethink.
