The Royal Danish Geographical Society aims to promote knowledge of the Earth and all its residents and to expand the interest in geographic science.
Through a series of events, the Geographical Society contributes to develop and disseminate geographical knowledge in Denmark. The members of the society consist of both students in the geographical sciences and industry professionals, who have access to all the events and research published by the society.
Six meetings are hosted annually with different presentations focussing of relevant geographical topics. The 2020-2021 programme included events about topics such as mapping Denmark, the Arctic, and sea ice and socioeconomic inequality in future cities.
The Geographical Society furthermore awards a number of prizes and medals to talents within geographical science and contributes to the newest research within both natural- and cultural geography with publications in the Danish Journal of Geography.
